When the Street Boss gelding TREASURE BOSS arrived at Mark Gee Racing he had a barrier embargo along with a few tricks that meant he was kept in full view so he could be closely monitored. One thing the stable knew for sure was he was a progressive type and could power along during his work. He kicked off his career in the summer of 2017 and was slick on debut with his pure grit and determination giving him the edge in a close finish at the Sapphire Coast. The stable worked hard with him over the next six months as he worked out how to race in our competitive region where you have to do everything right to get the job done. It took him another 7 starts to win again but after back to back victories he ensured that the heads would turn in the future for this lightly raced 4YO.
TREASURE BOSS is now very well credentialled 6YO winning on 8 occasions amassing almost $130,000 in prizemoney for his loyal owners along the way. Every horse has a track where they assert their dominance and when the flashy gelding with the big white blaze heads to Albury (8-4:1:1) he is almost unstoppable especially when the rain comes and conditions are heavy.
Claire Gee commented “it took a while for the penny to drop with Treasure Boss but with hard work and patience he has really rewarded his owners and those that work closely with him. Brendan Ward has been instrumental with his success and they have created a formidable bond (23-7:3:2) which gives us the confidence on race day. We couldn’t imagine life without him and its always a pleasure to be greeted his jovial self”.
